The Maldon Kumomoto Oyster is an uncultivated Cocktail Oyster, sustainably grown and harvested from our traditional oyster ground in the River Blackwater, Maldon, Essex. UK.
These delightful cocktail oysters have a distinctive taste and are a favourite for both new oyster eaters and connoisseurs alike. Originally from the Pacific Ocean, they arrived in Europe several hundred years ago and have evolved and flourished naturally in the river since.
Life for these little bi-valves unfolds leisurely on the river bed, where they sustain themselves on nutrient-rich tidal waters before they are carefully harvested by hand, washed, and placed into depuration tanks at our state-of-the-art facility at Cock Clarks.
All our oysters are picked, graded and packed by hand into food grade wooden boxes.
Store in a cool, dry place or in the fridge. Do not store in water or on ice.
Consume within 5 days of delivery – the oyster must be alive when shucked i.e. shell firmly shut.
All oysters are molluscs and therefore a food Allergen.
